The Bona Fide Connection Protocol

Your data, your connections, your choice of apps.

Bonafide is an open protocol for a more personal, private, and competitive internet.

Pools, the first app built on Bonafide, is available on iOS and Android. See Pools →

Bonafide Roadmap

Built and running

The protocol specification is public as a draft, v0.1. A reference implementation exists: a Bonafide agent library and a router service. Pools runs on it in production. We even published the Pools domain vocabulary.

Today, we host

Bonafide Technologies Inc. is currently the only host, but other organizations will be able to host once federation ships. Individuals running their own node will come later.

In progress

  • Router federation, so independent hosts can interoperate.
  • A published messaging domain.
  • A conformance test suite.
  • A create-bonafide-app template.

Where to start

Use it

Pools is the first app on Bonafide. It's for sharing with different people in different places, without ads, public counts, or an algorithm deciding what you see.

Build on it

We've tried to make building on Bonafide easy, and we've hidden much of the complexity of decentralized systems so you can spend your time on the app itself.

Support the work

We're looking for sponsors and donors for the Bonafide Foundation.
